Elf on the Shelf

My classroom got a very special visitor after Thanksgiving break!!  An Elf on the Shelf was waiting for the students on the white board with a note that said, "I brought you some new pencils and erasers! Merry Christmas!  I need a name!!"  The kids were so excited.  I asked the students to brainstorm a name for our friendly elf.  After voting the name decided upon was Chippy.  Chippy has been a fun addition to our classroom.  He has cut his name out of paper, hid in the Reading Street materials, played hockey with Gronkowski (a gray owl), colored some pictures for student's birthday and has been very sneaky with his hiding.

World's Best POP!!

My Kindergarten class made can koozies for Father's Day.  I ordered the koozies from Oriental Trading http://www.orientaltrading.com/diy-can-covers-a2-13610887-12-1.fltr?Ntt=can.  They used Sharpies and Crayola fabric markers to write "Daddy" and decorate the koozies.  We then put a can of Coca Cola in the koozies with a label I made saying, "You are the World Best POP!" They came out super cute!

Read All About It!

My Kindergarten class made it into one of the local papers!!  This year our Kindergarten team decided to ask the students to dress up like 100 year olds for our 100th day of school.  We asked our principal to put in a phone call to the local papers to see if we could get some press and WE DID!!  I was so excited that this made the Local section of the paper.  The kids looked great and really aged overnight.  The boys had beards, white hair, glasses, ties and suspenders while the girls rocked the gray hair, curlers, pearls and glasses.  Such a great day!
